A plant to make you fall in love with miniature gardening all over again. Tiny glossy green leaves adorn the slender arching stems. Typically a low spreading shrub, these plants have been pruned to a standard ("tree-like" form). While it was growing, a single upright stem was selected and the lowest "limbs" were removed, which created the "trunk". Each year, little white blooms are followed by long lasting round red berries. Almost resembles a miniature old apple tree with its silvery knobby trunk, irregular branches, and showy red fruit. A charming addition for miniature farm and country scenes and traditional fairy gardens. Plants are about 8-10" tall, growing in 3.5"h x 4"diameter pots. Popular plant for bonsai.
- Easy to grow and adaptable
- Trim as needed to maintain shape (typically grows 2-4" per year)
- Appreciates moist, well-drained soil, but can tolerate drier conditions
- Grow in full sun to bright shade (afternoon shade is appreciated in hotter/drier climates)
- Cold hardy to Zone 5
- Recommended for outdoor gardens only
