A pretty little groundcover for big blue color. Forms a carpet with rounded green leaves and thin stems that set roots as they travel along the ground. Covered with clusters of colbalt blue flowers in spring to early summer. (Flowers have four blue petals and white eye, very similar to Veronica oltensis.) Grows just an inch or two high and can reach 12"+ wide with time. Can be used in the garden like creeping thyme. Needs well drained soil and is drought tolerant once established. Cut back after flowering to keep even more compact. Use in fairy gardens and miniature gardens in the ground, trough gardens and rock gardens. Often evergreen. Perennial in the ground to USDA zone 4. Grow in full sun to part shade, providing afternoon shade in hot summer regions. Very sweet. Outdoors only; not recommened for indoor gardens.
